A New Year in the Studio
January 19, 2026
The first weeks of the year in the studio are always a moment to reset after the intensity of the festive period. The run-up to Christmas is invariably full, orders increase, and days become very focused on delivering pieces safely into customers’ hands. Even with the pause of the holidays, it can take time to fully exhale.
January offers that space.
Once the remaining seasonal orders are complete, the studio returns to a slower rhythm, time to recalibrate, and to begin shaping the year ahead. In truth, this planning has been quietly forming since early autumn, but this is when those early thoughts begin to take structure.
Ideas have a habit of surfacing regardless of how busy things become. It is simply the natural state of a design practice. New directions appear in fragments, sketchbook notes, material considerations, observations, possibilities. Together they carry a sense of potential for the months ahead.
There is little appetite here for rigid resolutions or grand declarations. A gentler approach feels more fitting, allowing room for experimentation and thoughtful development.
This year the intention is to punctuate the studio calendar with a small number of exhibitions, alongside the gradual introduction of new work designed to sit naturally alongside the existing collection. New forms for the home will be explored, with the possibility of lighting pieces, and a continued, though evolving, interest in time and everyday rituals.
As these ideas develop, early glimpses and studio notes will be shared first with our mailing list, offering subscribers a closer view of the design process as it unfolds.
